Nursery & Aboretum

Our arboretum and nursery are the heart of our environmental work—a living, growing space dedicated to restoration, learning, and long-term food security. Here we cultivate indigenous trees, fruit-bearing species, and traditional medicinal plants that support reforestation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods across our communities.

The arboretum also serves as an outdoor classroom, where students and visitors learn practical skills in tree propagation, soil care, water conservation, and climate-smart growing techniques. It is a place where environmental stewardship is shared hands-on and knowledge is passed from one generation to the next.

At the centre of it all is Godfrey “Greenfingers”, a true Jafuta Foundation standout. Known far and wide for always having seeds in his pockets—ready to give to anyone who shows the slightest interest—Godfrey shares his passion, stories, and deep plant knowledge with infectious enthusiasm. He leads our Chaya tree project, championing the planting of this highly nutritious, drought-resistant crop throughout the communities, and inspiring both young people and visitors to see the power of growing food and trees for the future.

Through the arboretum and nursery, we are not only growing plants—we are growing knowledge, pride, and a shared commitment to caring for the land.
