Literacy

Literacy is the foundation of learning and opportunity. In many rural communities, children fall behind in reading and writing due to limited exposure to English, resources and support. This challenge is compounded by the fact that English, while not the home language for these rural learners, is the official language used in education, leaving many children at a disadvantage from an early age.

Jafuta Foundation’s Literacy Programme helps address these gaps by strengthening reading, writing, and comprehension skills in English, while reinforcing classroom learning in safe and supportive environments. Through access to age-appropriate reading materials in our libraries and structured literacy support, the programme builds confidence, improves school performance, and helps ensure rural children are not left behind in the education system.
