Infrastructure Development

Jafuta Foundation invests in practical, community driven infrastructure that strengthens food security, livelihoods, and long-term resilience. These facilities are designed to be shared resources that communities can manage, maintain, and benefit from year after year.

We support the development of community gardens, owned and operated by local communities, enabling entire villages to access fresh, nutritious food throughout the year. Where reliable water is available, these gardens play a critical role in reducing hunger, improving diets, and supporting household resilience, particularly during the long dry season.

Our arboretum and nursery provides food-bearing and fruit trees, as well as a range of traditional medicinal plants for community use. This initiative improves nutrition, supports environmental restoration, and preserves valuable indigenous knowledge while enabling households to grow and share productive plants.

The goat breeding facility, affectionately known as “the Goat Palace”, serves as the hub for improved livestock breeding programmes and hands-on training workshops. Alongside this, our newly built poultry facility provides a vital source of protein for the school feeding programme while also functioning as a training site for community members in poultry management and production.

The Women & Youth Empowerment Centre further strengthens livelihoods through hosting workshops, nutritional cooking classes, and climate-smart farming training. Together, these interconnected facilities form the backbone of Jafuta Foundation’s Livelihoods & Food Security work—supporting sustainable food systems, income generation, and healthier, more resilient communities.
